Many horse trainers failed in trying to halter break this gorgeous mare before Combination Horsemanship. They were her saviour and I’m hoping they will continue to work with her for each new step of her journey. – Thowra’s owner
Thowra is a very sweet mare whose owner was misled when she purchased her unseen and ended up with an adult unhandled horse that didn’t trust people and couldn’t be loaded onto a trailer. After a few failed attempts with other trainers to either halter or load her, her owner reached out to Combination Horsemanship and we started working with Thowra with the specific aim to get a halter on her in a calm, positive way.
It’s not always obvious in these clips except from Thowra’s thick coat and the layered clothing but it was very cold and we often struggled to move our fingers, let alone take any video! We also later loaded Thowra and helped transport her. She is now living on a lovely little yard where she is turned out with other horses and enjoys a more pampered, comfortable life.
